1:48 deck crew in green jerseys, 4 figures from Reskit: catapult and arresting gear crews, air wing maintenance and quality control personnel, in the position to the left of the aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains four resin figures of modern flight deck personnel in 1:48 scale. On the deck of an aircraft carrier, a green jersey marks the catapult and arresting gear crews, the air wing maintenance personnel and quality control. The figures are modeled in the position to the left of the aircraft, so that in a diorama they follow on logically from a parked or taxiing machine. This is not an aircraft kit but an accessory that gives a scene its sense of scale and its action.
On the flight deck the working roles are distinguished by the color of the jerseys and helmets: it is a system that makes it possible to see at once who is doing what, in the noise and the cramped space. The green group is responsible above all for the catapults, the arresting wires and the technical servicing of the aircraft. The stances of the personnel follow from their tasks: crouching at the nose gear, signaling by hand, waiting at a safe distance. It is exactly these natural poses that make figures the strongest element in a diorama; without them a deck scene looks empty.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and remove the remains of the sprue gates with a fine saw; go carefully on the thin limbs. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue and apply primer before painting. On figures a sprayed base coat finished off by brush works well: the jersey as a strong area of color, the coveralls in a muted shade, the helmet and ear protectors done separately. Do the shading with thin washes in the folds and the highlights with a dry brush on the edges. Paint the faces last and take your time over them; in 1:48 scale it is enough to suggest them, not to draw the detail.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted, as resin castings. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
