This detail set faithfully reproduces the twin-barrel GSh-23L gun seated in the movable forward NPPU-23 mount in 1:48 scale. It is a resin, 3D-printed aftermarket set from Reskit for experienced modelers. It replaces the simplified gun from the box with crisply rendered parts carrying faithful geometry of the barrels and the mount, and it noticeably lifts the look of the front of the model.
The NPPU-23 is a movable under-nose mount fitted with the quick-firing twin-barrel GSh-23L gun of 23 mm caliber. It is carried by the Mil Mi-24V and Mi-24VP versions of the attack helicopter; the mount traverses in elevation and in azimuth and replaces the fixed machine gun turret of the earlier versions. The GSh-23 gun is one of the most widespread Soviet aircraft weapons.
Wash the mold release residue off the parts, cut off the casting blocks and the print supports and clean them up gently. Glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); sand resin with respiratory protection. Apply a primer, bring out the metal of the barrels with metallic paint and pick the detail out with dark shading; the muzzles and the firing stains can be fine-tuned with pigments.
This is a detail accessory, not a standalone model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
