A masking set for the tactical numbers and national insignia of the Heinkel He 111 H-6 bomber, cut for the Border Model BF-018 kit in 1:35 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Heinkel He 111 was a twin-engine bomber with the characteristic glazing of its whole nose, which the Luftwaffe sent into action from the first days of the war. The H-6 version was among the most numerously built and besides bombs it could carry torpedoes, so it can be met both over land and over the sea. Machines of this size carried large national insignia and conspicuous tactical numbers, on which the care taken over a build shows at first sight.
Insignia sprayed through a mask look different from a decal. They have no carrier film that would silver on a matte varnish, they have no edge that would shine under a sharp light, and an intricate surface with rivets and overlapping panels gives them no trouble either. The set is cut for the particular Border Model BF-018 kit, so both the size and the placement of the insignia match its surface.
The base coat must be dry, clean and degreased. Place a mask according to the instructions and press it down around its whole perimeter, above all where it passes over a raised edge; that is exactly where paint most likes to creep under. Spray perpendicular to the surface and in thin coats. Insignia tend to be multicolored, so they are applied in steps with the paint left to dry between them; the order of the steps is given in the instructions with the set. Remove a mask as soon as the last coat is dry to the touch, and pull it at an angle along the surface.
The masks alone are supplied. Paints, thinner and decals are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
