A 3D-printed modeling accessory from the Czech brand Firma49 in 1:48 scale. It is not a model of the vehicle but a replacement part — the folded windscreen of the Kübelwagen covered with a tarpaulin, with which you replace the original glazed screen on your model. It is supplied as a small printed part to be glued on and painted.

What it is for

The Kübelwagen (VW Type 82) was a German light off-road car of the Second World War, in its purpose the counterpart of the American Jeep. At the front the crews often folded the windscreen down onto the hood and covered it with a tarpaulin — this cut down the reflections that could give their position away and at the same time protected the glass from damage. This accessory captures a screen covered in exactly that way and gives a model or a diorama an authentic front-line look.

Work tips

Carefully separate the part from the print supports with a sharp knife or a saw, clean it up and wash it free of residue if needed. Glue it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). It is a small part — work calmly and protect your airways while sanding. Apply a primer before painting; bring the tarpaulin out with a wash and dry-brushing so that the texture of the cloth shows.
