This is not a model but a small diorama accessory, the M38 gas mask canister of the German army in the smaller 1:48 scale. It is made by the Czech brand Firma49 using high-resolution SLA 3D printing, which captures the characteristic ribbing of the body even in this small scale, a level of detail practically never achieved in ordinary plastic. Even a small canister can lift a scene: slung on a figure or lashed to a vehicle, it turns a bare model into a believable glimpse of the front. The same part is also made in the larger 1:35 scale, so choose the 1:35 variant for standard figure builds and stay with this 1:48 rendering for smaller figures and vehicles.
The M38 was a cylindrical, ribbed sheet-metal canister in which German soldiers of the Second World War carried the GM38 gas mask. The corrugated body with its lid and carrying strap was an unmistakable piece of field equipment across every branch: it was worn over the shoulder on the back or at the hip and is among the most typical details of the German soldier of that time.
In 1:48 scale this is a very small resin part: separate it carefully from the print supports with a sharp cutter and do not snap it off, so that it is not damaged. Bond it with super glue (cyanoacrylate). After a coat of primer the ribbing is brought out by a fine dark wash in the recesses; overdone effects tend to harm a small scale, so paint with restraint.
This is a resin accessory, not a complete model. Paints, glue and the figure are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
