A plastic diorama base, MiniArt Marston Mat - landing mat in 1:48 scale - a kit of the pierced airfield matting (PSP) as a surface to stand aircraft models on. It is not an airplane model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a plastic kit of a diorama base from MiniArt, not an airplane model. The set represents what is known as Marston Mat - a temporary airfield surface of pierced steel planks (PSP, pierced steel planking), which you assemble into a matting surface by joining them together. It serves as a realistic surface under models of aircraft and vehicles in 1:48 scale and as the foundation of a field airfield diorama. The parts are injection-molded in plastic and have to be assembled and painted.
Marston Mat (PSP) was used by American engineer troops in the Second World War to build temporary field airfields. The pierced steel planks interlocked with one another and formed a reinforced surface that could carry even heavier aircraft on soft or muddy ground.
Assemble the matting on a flat surface and line the joints up dry. A dark base, dry-brushing and pigments will bring out the metallic look; mud, rust streaks and wear where the wheels ran will add realism.
The base is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and an aircraft model are not included in the package.
