The MiG-17 was a subsonic fighter derived from the MiG-15, with a more pronounced swept wing, a lengthened fuselage, and better flight characteristics. The MiG-17F version had an afterburning engine, which increased thrust at takeoff and in combat. Several captured MiG-17s were evaluated and flown in the West in American colors as part of assessment work against Western aircraft, which matches the unusual concept of this edition.
Cut the parts from the sprues and glue the joints with thin plastic cement. Paint and pick out the cockpit interior before closing the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting; the MiG-17's metal and natural-metal surfaces respond well to an airbrush with metallic shades. Highlight the panel lines with a wash and add light weathering appropriate to an operational aircraft.
