This is not a kit, but a masking accessory. The name TFace comes from the English term two face, meaning the set includes masks for both the outside and the inside of the glazing — the manufacturer's instructions have separate sheets for the exterior and the interior. Per the instructions, wheel masks are also included. Cut for the Eduard and Revell kits in 1:48 scale.
Modelers usually paint the cabin framing on the inside as well — otherwise bare clear plastic shows through when you look through the glass. Without an interior mask this is done by hand and is a nightmare. TFace solves both: spray the interior color inside and the fuselage color outside, and the edges line up exactly.
The Consolidated PBY Catalina was an American flying boat; the PBY-5A version is amphibious — it has retractable landing gear, so it could land on water or on a runway. It served for maritime patrol, submarine hunting and rescuing downed airmen. For modelers, the key point is its huge glazed area — the cockpit, the nose and, above all, the characteristic observation blisters on the sides of the fuselage. There are therefore a great many masks, and doing it by hand would be a nightmare.
First wash and degrease the clear part — a mask will not hold on grease and paint will bleed underneath. Apply the interior masks first and spray the interior, then the exterior masks and spray the camouflage. Do not stretch the mask over an edge. Remove it while the paint is still fresh — cured paint bonds to the tape and can peel off the model too. On the rounded blisters, press the mask down gradually.
The mask set is not a kit or a model. It contains no plastic parts, paints or glue — the base kit must be purchased separately.
