The cast set of roof tiles 1:48 Roof Tiles from the Italian brand Royal Model brings the typical Mediterranean fired-clay roofing to a diorama.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains castings of barrel tiles of semicircular section, that is the roofing used in southern Europe for centuries. The manufacturer gives resin as the material and supplies the tiles as a standalone building element: they are laid on a backing of your own made of sheet or on the roof of a part-built building.
The barrel tile, called coppo in Italy, arose as early as in ancient building and its shape has practically not changed. Alternately inverted rows create the characteristic undulation that most country houses in Spain, Italy, Greece and the Balkans have. That is exactly why this roofing is a frequent choice for scenes from the Mediterranean and from the Italian campaign.
The manufacturer recommends joining with PVA glue, which gives time to align the rows, and treating the surface with a primer before painting. Fired clay never has a uniform shade. Spray a base tone and then bring out the individual pieces with a brush into brick, ocher and grayish positions; mossy green shades belong in the joints and at the eaves.
It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue and paints are not included in the package.
