AIM-54A guided missiles in 1:72 scale from Reskit. Castings with sharper fins than injection-molded plastic can manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of cast AIM-54A guided missiles in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian maker Reskit. Carried ordnance is clearly visible on a model and at the same time it is where plastic is most often skimped: the fins tend to be thick, the noses blunt and the parting line runs exactly across the worst place. Castings remove those troubles.
The AIM-54 was an American long-range air-to-air missile developed for a carrier-borne fighter able to engage targets at exceptional distances. The A version was the first production variant. The missile was large and heavy, so only a limited circle of types carried it, and that is exactly why its silhouette under the fuselage is unmistakable.
Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water, cut the casting blocks off with a saw and level the surfaces. The fins are thin, so work over a tray with a raised edge. Paint the missiles separately before hanging them, and make sure they hang parallel; ordnance hung crooked spoils the impression of the whole model. Apply the color bands with decals or a mask.
The set is an accessory to a kit and does not replace a kit. Paints, glue and the model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
