About product

Metal armament for the B type Spitfire wing, 1:72

A set of turned metal armament for a model of the British Spitfire fighter in the Mk.I to Mk.V versions, in the form matching the wing known as the B type, in 1:72. It is not a model but replacement parts. It is precisely the arrangement of the armament in the wing that tells the individual forms of the Spitfire apart, so this is a part that decides what the model represents.

What it is for

  • Replacing the plastic barrels of the armament in a Spitfire wing.
  • A thin, accurate cross section that plastic cannot hold in this scale.
  • Genuinely drilled muzzles instead of solid plastic tips.
  • Repairing a model with a broken or bent barrel.

Building and painting tips

Drill the holes in the wing to the diameter of the shanks, so that the barrels sit square and stand out by the same amount. Seen from the front the difference shows at once. In 1:72 work with tweezers and over a light mat. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a primer. Fit the barrels only at the end of the build.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of British fighters in 1:72.
  • Modelers who tell the individual forms of the Spitfire wing apart.
  • Those repairing finished models with damaged armament.

Before you glue the barrels on, check on a photograph of the particular machine how many of them should stand out of the wing. The arrangement differed between the individual production batches.

The set contains only metal parts. Glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
