CMK 1:72 MAN M9V46 diesel engine for a Type IXC submarine is a resin detail set that faithfully captures the supercharged diesel that powered the German ocean-going submarines.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a resin detail set from the Czech maker CMK, not a kit in its own right. The set in 1:72 scale captures the supercharged MAN M9V46 diesel engine, which drove Type IXC submarines on the surface. The castings of the engine with its piping and runs markedly raise the realism of an engine room.
Type IXC submarines were among the long-range ocean-going submarines of the Kriegsmarine in the Second World War. For running on the surface and charging the batteries they used a pair of powerful supercharged MAN diesels, which gave the boats a long range across the Atlantic.
First wash the mold release off the parts, carefully separate the casting blocks and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Wear respiratory protection while sanding. The engine will stand out once the metallic shades are painted and the details brought out with a dark wash and a dry brush.
The set serves as an accessory for a plastic kit and is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
