An injection-molded plastic kit of the two-seat fighter-bomber F-105G in 1:72 scale from the Trumpeter firm. The model captures the massive fuselage with its side intakes and the lengthened cockpit for a crew of two. The package holds clear parts and a decal sheet with several marking options.
The Thunderchief was a heavy supersonic fighter-bomber that made its name during the Vietnam War. The two-seat F-105G Wild Weasel version specialized in the suppression of air defenses - it sought out and destroyed radars and surface-to-air missile sites. An electronic warfare officer sat in the second cockpit and the machine carried anti-radiation missiles and jamming equipment.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, reinforce the fuselage joints and sand any gaps down. Apply a primer before painting; the typical finish is the Southeast Asia camouflage scheme of several shades of green and brown with light undersides. Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage, bring out the panel lines with a wash and unify the surface with a satin varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
