A 3D-printed set of the German guided bomb Fritz X (also Ruhrstahl SD 1400 X, Kramer X-1 or PC 1400 X) in 1:72 scale from 77propeller. It is not a standalone aircraft model but an armament accessory (an aftermarket set) containing two examples of this guided bomb. The set is universal and is intended to complete suitable carriers, the bombers that used the Fritz X during the Second World War.
The pair of 3D-printed bombs will serve as faithful armament under a carrier, or as a separate detail for a diorama or a stand. Thanks to 3D printing the bomb has fine surface detail, including the characteristic cruciform tail. It is an accessory that fittingly enriches the build of a bomber able to carry this weapon.
The Fritz X was a German guided anti-ship bomb of the Second World War period and is often called one of the first guided weapons put into combat. It was steered by radio command from an operator and used spoilers on its cruciform tail to change course. The best-known success of the type was the sinking of an Italian battleship in 1943. The bombs were carried above all by German bombers.
Separate the parts carefully from the print supports, clean the cut surfaces up and gently sand any print marks. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the surfaces before painting and apply a base coat (primer); restrained weathering and fine chipping suit a realistic look. Protect your airways when sanding 3D parts.
