A resin kit of the German six-engine long-range aircraft Junkers Ju-390 V-1 in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand Planet Models. It is not ordinary injection-molded plastic; it is a short-run resin kit intended for experienced modelers. The box combines resin parts, pressed clear parts (vacuum-formed glazing) and metal (white metal) landing gear parts, together with decals and instructions. Given the span of the real subject this is a large and demanding model, and one of the few ways to build this type in 1:72 scale.
The Ju-390 was an exceptionally large six-engine aircraft derived from the four-engine Ju-290. It came about as a long-range bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, and it fell within the visions of the so-called Amerika Bomber, that is of a machine with the range to reach the American coast. In reality only prototypes were built, and the first of them, the V-1, flew for the first time in 1943. The type never saw series production, which makes it a rare and unusual modeling subject.
First wash the resin parts in warm water with detergent to remove the residue of the mold release agent from the casting. Carefully cut off the supporting casting blocks and sand the surfaces; protect your airways when sanding resin (a respirator, extraction). Glue the parts with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue), not with cement for plastic. Cut out the vacuum-formed glazing with an overlap and fine-tune it. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints down with an airbrush in thin coats; the large areas of German camouflage will reward subtle panel shading and shadow washes.
