An injection-molded plastic kit of the American M4A2 medium tank, in British designation the Sherman III, in 1:72 scale from the Italian brand Italeri. It is a model from the fast assembly series with a lower part count; it captures the welded hull of the M4A2 version. The package tends to be laid out as a pair of models with decals for several configurations. The exact contents of the particular package are given in the instructions in the box.
The M4A2 was the version of the famous Sherman medium tank with a welded hull and a pair of coupled diesel engines. The diesel powerplant meant that the US Army fielded this variant only to a limited extent and most of the production went to the Allies: in British designation the Sherman III served with British and other Commonwealth units, and the Soviet Union received it in large numbers under Lend-Lease. It carried a 75 mm gun in a rotating turret and shared with the other Shermans their reliability and ease of production and repair. It was fielded in North Africa, Italy, Western Europe and on the Eastern Front.
Assemble and fine-tune the running gear and the lower hull before you close it up and paint it. Even with a fast assembly kit it pays to fill the seams of the welded hull and straighten the barrel. Bring a single-color olive or sand finish to life with panel contrast and a gloss coat under the decals. Build the weathering with dark washes into the joints, a dry brush on the edges and dust and mud pigments on the running gear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
