A set of wet decals in 1:72 for the long-range Bf 110D version. Three Norwegian machines of ZG 76 from 1940 and 1941, among them the aircraft of Major Erich Groth.
Responsibility details are not available.
Norway and the Arctic coast were an operational area for the Luftwaffe in which distance decided everything. The Bf 110D came about precisely because of it: it was given changes for carrying a large fuel load and was used on long flights over the sea, where single-engine fighters could not reach. The 1:72 decal sheet covers three such aircraft.
Groth was at the head of II./ZG 76 and his Gruppe was among the units that carried the famous shark mouth on the fuselage. Operations over the fjords called for winter shades and recognition bands, so these machines differ markedly from their Western European counterparts.
The decals are activated by dipping them in lukewarm water; after a few tens of seconds the film releases from the backing and is allowed to slide onto the model. We recommend working one marking at a time and blotting the water from around it with a paper tissue, so that the artwork does not slip. The curved surfaces of the canopy and the engine nacelles will call for two coats of softener. The northern machines carried yellow recognition panels under the engine nacelles and on the rudder; if you spray those through a mask, apply the decals only afterward, so that the edges of the artwork are not lifted by the paint. Apart from the sheet and the color drawing, the package holds nothing further.
