About product

77propeller 1:72 Messerschmitt Me P.1099 – 3D-Printed Wheels (for Revell)

This item is not an airplane model, but a detail accessory: a set of 3D-printed wheels meant to replace the wheels supplied in the Revell 1:72 injection-molded plastic kit of the Messerschmitt Me P.1099. The box contains three parts printed with 12K technology, giving a very fine print resolution that injection-molded plastic cannot match at this scale. Replacing the landing gear wheels is one of the quickest, and at the same time most visible, upgrades to a finished model – the wheel is one of the few parts everyone looks at up close.

Which real subject and which model

The Messerschmitt Me P.1099 was a project aircraft that was never built – one of the German paper-project designs from the end of the Second World War that stayed on the drawing board and never flew. It was conceptually based on the jet-powered Me 262, on top of which a heavily armed multi-role aircraft was to be developed. That is exactly why models of this aircraft sit on the border between history and what-if, giving the modeler even more room for a personal take on the paint scheme and markings. The wheel set is built to the dimensions and mounting points of the Revell kit; fitting it to wheels from other kits is not guaranteed.

Use and fitting

  • Carefully separate the parts from the print supports – 3D prints are brittle, so use a good hobby knife and sprue cutters, and never force them off.
  • Before painting, wash the parts in warm soapy water and let them dry – this removes any print resin residue.
  • Clean up the remains of the supports with fine sandpaper; when sanding resin, protect your airways and work in a well-ventilated room.
  • Glue with cyanoacrylate (super glue) – ordinary cement for plastic does not work on resin.
  • Always apply a primer first, and only then the tire and the wheel hub.

Who the set is for

For modelers building the Me P.1099 in 1:72 who want to take the landing gear detail beyond what the production kit offers. Working with 3D prints takes a bit of experience and careful hands, but the wheel swap itself is a very rewarding upgrade even for a moderately experienced builder.

This is an accessory for a model – the package does not include an airplane kit, glue or paints.

FAQ

No. This is an add-on wheel set. The Me P.1099 kit itself, in 1:72 scale, must be purchased separately.

It is designed for the Revell 1:72 injection-molded plastic kit of the Me P.1099. Fitting it to kits from other manufacturers is not guaranteed.

Carefully separate the parts from the supports, wash them in warm soapy water, clean them up and spray them with a primer. They are glued with cyanoacrylate (super glue), not cement for plastic.

It was only a project from the end of the Second World War that never went into production or flew. The kit and its accessories are therefore a reconstruction of a design that was never built.
