An injection-molded plastic kit of the armed version of the Mi-2 light helicopter in 1:72 scale. The kit holds over a hundred parts on five sprues, seven of them clear, a well worked-out cabin and a broken-up rotor head. The finished model measures about 19 cm in length and the diameter of the main rotor is around 20 cm. The armament consists of a fixed 23 mm cannon, four machine gun pods and a pair of machine guns in the cabin.
The Mi-2 is a light utility helicopter powered by a pair of small turboshaft engines, whose mounting above the cabin gave the machine its characteristic silhouette. Series production ran in Poland, which is also where a number of modifications including the armed versions came from. The armed variant was meant to support ground units without the need to commit a larger and more demanding combat helicopter. The machines spread across the whole of Eastern Europe and served for decades in the army and in civilian use.
Finish and paint the cabin before you close the fuselage, because the glazing is extensive and the inside is clearly visible. Mask the glazed areas and do not forget the frames, painted first in the interior shade. Glue the rotor blades on at the very end, because they are easily caught. Helicopters tend to be dirty mainly from exhaust gases behind the engines and from dust raised by the rotor.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
