HäT 8026 the Brunswick Leib Battalion is a 1:72 set with forty-eight figures in nine poses.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale with forty-eight figures in nine poses. It depicts the Leib Battalion of the Brunswick corps, its best-known unit. The figures have the characteristic coat with frogging across the chest and a tall shako with a plume. It is supplied unpainted.
The Brunswick corps grew out of the army of Duke Frederick William, who after losing his territory carried on the fight against France. It dressed entirely in black, which earned it the nickname the Black Corps, and it wore a badge of a skull and crossbones. The Leib Battalion was its main infantry unit: it wore a coat with frogging in the manner of a hussar dolman, a bell-shaped shako with a white skull badge and a black horsehair plume. The corps distinguished itself in Spain and again in 1815, when the duke fell at Quatre Bras.
The black uniform is a trap: if it stayed pure black, the figure would look like a silhouette. Use a very dark gray as the base and lighten the edges of the folds by two tones. Do the frogging across the chest with a fine brush onto the finished coat and leave a gap between the cords. The white skull badge on the shako is tiny but carries the whole impression, so leave it for the very end.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
