An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet Tupolev Tu-134 jet airliner (NATO reporting name Crusty) in the colors of Aeroflot, in 1:72 scale from Amodel. It is a large short-run model with clear glazing parts.
The Tu-134 was a Soviet twin-engined jet airliner for shorter and medium routes, with the engines mounted at the rear on the sides of the fuselage and with a T-tail. From the 1960s on it became one of the most widespread airliners of the Eastern Bloc and carried passengers for several decades in the colors of Aeroflot and of other carriers. The Crusty-A version matches the later form of the series.
As with a large short-run kit, count on careful cleaning up of the parts, test assembly and deliberate gluing — the long fuselage joints call for filling and sanding. Handle the cabin and window glazing with masking in mind and fit the clear parts at the end. Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement for plastic. The Aeroflot scheme with its large gloss areas will appreciate a smooth base: lay a primer on and spray the color in thin coats with an airbrush; a gloss white fuselage calls for an even coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
