A plastic kit of the legendary American strategic reconnaissance aircraft Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The box also contains the unmanned D-21 reconnaissance drone, which can be built on its own or in the launch configuration. The model is large, injection-molded in plastic and comes with a decal sheet.
The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird was an American strategic reconnaissance aircraft capable of flying at more than three times the speed of sound at very high altitudes, which let it escape air defenses. It served to gather intelligence during the Cold War and still holds speed records today. The additional D-21 drone was an unmanned reconnaissance vehicle meant for deep penetration over hostile territory, launched from a carrier aircraft.
Fill and sand the long joints of the fuselage and the nacelles carefully. Apply the characteristic black finish with an airbrush, and use fine shades and a matte varnish to bring it to life. Mask the canopy glazing. The D-21 drone can be displayed beside the aircraft or on its carrier pylon. Glue the landing gear on at the end of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
