An injection-molded plastic kit of the Su-33 carrier-based fighter (NATO reporting name Flanker-D) in 1:72 scale from Italeri. The model captures the large twin-engine aircraft with canard foreplanes and folding wings for operation from an aircraft carrier. The Su-33 is the carrier-based development of the famous Su-27 fighter, adapted for service aboard an aircraft carrier. Compared with the land-based version it has a strengthened structure and landing gear, folding wings, canard foreplanes and an arrestor hook for landing on the deck. A pair of powerful jet engines gives it high agility. The aircraft serves to defend the task force and to win air superiority over the sea.
Glue the parts with thin plastic cement and align and sand the large joints of the fuselage and the leading edges carefully. Paint and highlight the cockpit before you close it; glue the clear canopy with canopy cement. Prime the model before painting and spray it with an airbrush. Carrier aircraft wear blue-gray camouflage with darker fields — after a gloss coat and the decals, bring out the panel lines with a wash and add the service wear typical of operations at sea.
