A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale with forty-eight figures of the infantry of the Ottoman army of the First World War. It is a subject that appears rarely in what modelers are offered, and yet between 1914 and 1918 the Ottoman army fought on several fronts at once. The figures are supplied unpainted.
The Ottoman army entered the war on the side of the Central Powers and fought in the Middle East, in the Caucasus and in the Balkans. Best known is the defense of the Gallipoli peninsula, where in 1915 it halted the Allied landing and inflicted heavy losses on it. The soldiers wore a field uniform in a muted khaki shade and a characteristic cloth headdress with a stiff crown. The equipment was plain and in many units far from uniform, which for a modeler is more of an advantage than an obstacle.
Wash the figures before painting and let them dry. Do not mix the khaki into a single shade for all the figures; a slight variation between individuals looks more natural than a uniform color and matches reality too. Make the headdress a little lighter than the coat so that it separates. Leave the straps and the boots for last and work the faces up, because in a small scale they carry the whole expression of a figure.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
