1:72 Yak-42D is a short-run kit of the Soviet three-engine airliner in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet three-engine airliner Yak-42 in the D version, in 1:72 scale. At this scale it is a large model, because the subject was a full-size airliner for short and medium routes. The manufacturer builds on short-run technology, so expect to fit the parts more carefully and to find the build harder than with the big brands.
The Yak-42 was created at the end of the 1970s as a replacement for older machines on short and medium routes. Its powerplant is unusual: three jet engines, two on the sides of the rear fuselage and one in the root of the fin, combined with a T-tail. The wing has a slight sweep and the machine was built to manage even at less well equipped airfields, including its own airstair entrance at the rear. The D version was given a larger fuel load and with it a longer range.
An airliner stands or falls on a smooth surface, so fill and sand the joints carefully and lay down a gloss coat before the decals. On a short-run kit try every part dry and count on filling. Mask the windows or block them from inside. The large fuselage areas deserve a good primer, because every unevenness shows up under gloss.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
