Battle of Britain - 75th Anniversary Gift Set Contains

The real subject

The Battle of Britain was an air campaign of the summer and fall of 1940. The Luftwaffe was to win superiority over southern England and the Channel, because without it a landing on the islands could not be contemplated. The British defense rested on a chain of radar stations and on ground-controlled interception, which managed to send fighters to the right place at the right time and therefore did not have to keep standing patrols in the air blindly. The fighting peaked in August and September, when the weight of the raids shifted to the big cities. Air superiority was not won and the landing plan was postponed. Seventy-five years passed from these events in 2015, and this set is tied to that anniversary.

What a starter set is

Starter sets are intended mainly for beginning builders and as a gift. Besides a plastic model in 1:72 scale they also contain paints, so the question of what else needs to be bought falls away. The exact list of contents is stated on the box.

Building and painting tips

The parts are separated from the sprue with nippers and the sprue nub is sanded down. Before painting, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry; the paint then holds considerably better. Apply the paint in several thin layers rather than in one heavy one. It works well to paint the cockpit and the interior spaces before gluing the fuselage together, because later you can no longer reach them.

Terms of supply

This is a gift package intended for building. Tools such as a knife, nippers and abrasive paper usually need to be obtained separately, unless stated otherwise.
