Flowing ink pens for engraved lines and gaps

A set of markers from the Japanese Gunze brand intended for drawing out the engraving on the surface of a model. The tip is laid against the groove and the ink wicks along it by itself over its whole length, so the line is picked out without mixing a wash, without thinning and without a pipette. Besides several color shades, chosen according to the color of the part, the set also includes a pen for removing overruns.

Use

• Before the first use, work the tip in on paper until the ink starts to flow smoothly
• Work on a smooth, ideally gloss surface; into a matte area the ink flows less well and bleeds
• Let the line dry and draw off the excess with a cotton swab or the eraser pen
• Choose the shade according to the ground; on light areas gray or brown often suits better than black
• Try a new surface in a hidden place first, especially if there is fresh paint underneath
• Store the pens lying flat, so the tip stays soaked and ready at once

Who the set suits

It is most often reached for by builders of robot models, where a dense net of parting gaps is the main means of expression. It serves just as well on the panel lines of an aircraft, on the gaps of a car body or on the riveted seams of equipment. Compared with liquid washes in a bottle, a pen offers quick work without preparation, which will be appreciated by anyone who finishes models in the evenings and does not want to set out the whole table for a few lines.

Work in a well-ventilated room, do not leave the pens without their caps and store them out of the reach of children.
