About product

Gunze GT-63 Mr. Rasps-File – a modeling rasp

A modeling file, a rasp, from the maker Gunze (Mr.Hobby) for shaping and cleaning up plastic, putty and wood. After a part is cut off a sprue, the remains of the gate and the flash stay behind — a rasp levels them smooth faster than abrasive paper. It suits coarser shaping, chamfering edges and adjusting mating surfaces.

Use

  • It levels the remains of gates and the flash after a part is cut off faster than abrasive paper.
  • It shapes and adjusts parts, chamfers edges and adjusts mating surfaces.
  • It helps with repairing seams and with coarser clean-up before final sanding.
  • Usable on plastic, modeling putty and wood.

Who it is for

For modelers who need to level plastic or putty quickly and coarsely. The recommended order: level with the rasp first, then finish the sanding with fine abrasive paper or a sanding sponge — because a rasp leaves marks on the surface. A suitable addition to sanding sponges, abrasive paper and modeling saws.

On soft plastic work with feeling and moderate pressure — sanding that is too coarse can do more harm than good. Protect your breathing when sanding.

FAQ

For quick, coarser shaping and clean-up — it levels the remains of gates and the flash after a part is cut off, chamfers edges and adjusts mating surfaces and seams.

No. A rasp leaves marks on the surface, so finish the sanding with fine abrasive paper or a sanding sponge.

Yes, but carefully and with moderate pressure. On soft plastic the sanding must not be too coarse, otherwise it will do more harm than good.
