HUG308 Lightning Buster White

The color

Lightning Buster White is a white shade from the Gunze range of modeling paints, listed under its own trade name. White is the color that is hardest of all to work with: it covers poorly, it gives away every imperfection of the surface underneath and on a large area without shadow it looks flat. At the same time it is indispensable, because saturated colors only come into their own over it and every lighter shade is mixed with it.

Where it is useful

On the large areas of models with a light scheme, on accessories and on parts that are meant to look clean. It also proves itself as an intermediate coat: red, yellow and orange come out bright over white, whereas straight on dark plastic they stay muddy. A uniform white area will moreover show the grooves left by sanding and the unfilled seams before you move on to the final shade.

Application tips

• Stir the paint thoroughly before use, the pigment settles at the bottom of the container when left alone.
• Choose the thinner the manufacturer recommends for this range; a cross between two systems will curdle the paint.
• Count on several thin coats, as a single heavy coat of white does not cover anyway and floods the engraved detail.
• The surface must be washed and degreased, as white pulls into blotches over grease.
• Compare the exact tone on a sample; white shades differ from one another in their cast toward gray or toward yellow.

Who it is for

For modelers who need a white for areas or a light intermediate coat under saturated colors. The thinner, the primer and the clear coat are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
