Masking tape 2 mm wide. It is applied to surfaces that are to stay free of paint while spraying, and only then is the painting done. The narrow strip is its main advantage: it can be bent into curves and follow rounded edges, on which a wide tape forms creases that paint runs under. It is also used as an outline that is then filled in with wider tape or with masking fluid.
Wash and degrease the surface before applying it, as the tape will not hold on a greasy base. Lay the strip down gradually, working in short sections, so that a curve can be shaped without folds. Press the edge that will be sprayed over down with a toothpick or the blunt side of a pair of tweezers. Lay the paint down in several thin coats, as one heavy coat easily runs under the edge. Lift the tape slowly and at a sharp angle back over itself, before the finish is fully cured.
The tape is not tied to a scale or to a particular kit, so it will serve on aircraft, military vehicles and cars alike. It comes into its own on divided camouflage, on canopy frames and anywhere two shades meet on a sharp edge.
What is supplied is masking tape in the width stated. Paints, thinner and other masking supplies are not part of the price, unless stated otherwise.
