Medium Hexagonal Mesh is a photo-etched metal sheet with a medium-sized hexagonal grid for building grilles and screens on models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A thin metal sheet with a regular honeycomb perforation takes the place on a model of anything meant to look like a screen or a grating. Against an impression of such a pattern in plastic it has one fundamental advantage: it is genuinely open, so the space that really is behind the mesh can be seen through it. Royal Model offers this range in several patterns and densities, and here it is hexagons of medium size.
Most often it stands in for the protective gratings over the radiators and engine compartments of armored vehicles, intake covers, loudspeaker grilles and debris traps. The uses, though, are far from ending with military equipment. It serves well on the cooling openings of cowlings, on industrial buildings in a diorama, with ventilation ducting or as a screen in the engine room of a ship model.
It is better to cut it with a sharp scalpel along a steel ruler on a hard surface. Shears stretch a fine grid and the edge then ripples. The material is pliable, so you can bend it over a rod or the edge of a ruler into a curve without trouble. Before varnishing, degrease the surface and use a primer meant for metal, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Cyanoacrylate makes the joint, and the more experienced will reach for solder.
It is offered as a separate sheet of material, without paints and without glue.
