An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire fighter in the Mk. IX version in 1:48 scale from Italeri. The Aces edition concentrates on the machines of leading RAF and Allied fighter aces and offers a rich decal sheet for several marked versions.
The Spitfire Mk. IX came about as a quick answer to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 - a more powerful Rolls-Royce Merlin engine with a two-stage supercharger was fitted into the Spitfire airframe. The result was one of the best and most widespread Spitfires of the Second World War, which served on all the main fronts and became a mainstay of RAF fighter aviation in the second half of the war.
Bond the parts with a thin plastic cement and apply primer before painting. Finish the cockpit and the interior before closing the fuselage up. For RAF camouflage schemes an airbrush and soft transitions work well; even the sheen out under the decals with gloss varnish and knock the whole model back to flat only at the end. Apply the decals onto a smooth varnished base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
