Mirage Hobby Rounded Edge Blade No. 10 is a pack of five spare blades with a rounded edge.
Responsibility details are not available.
Five spare blades from the Polish brand Mirage Hobby. Instead of a pointed tip, shape No. 10 has a rounded belly to the edge, so during the cut it touches the material along an arc rather than at a single point. The cut therefore never bites in anywhere and the blade glides smoothly over the surface, which will be appreciated by anyone who has ever cut deeper into plastic than they meant to. This shape is not suited to picking at a fine detail, though, and a blade with a point is intended for that.
When scraping, hold the blade almost perpendicular to the surface and draw it toward you in short strokes, and the material comes away as a fine dust. For an ordinary cut, lay the edge down instead and guide it along the arc. Seat the blade all the way home in the holder. As soon as it stops biting and merely glides over the surface, replace it. Store the blades in the packaging, not loose in a drawer among the rest of the tools.
For modelers who prefer scraping a seam away to sanding it, and for anyone working with soft materials. Scraping has the advantage over abrasive paper that it leaves behind neither dust nor a dulled surface, so you can tell at once whether the seam is really gone. The blades are sharp along the whole arc, so store them out of the reach of children.
