Responsibility details are not available.
In this box Perry Miniatures supplies fourteen riders, bases and a painting guide. The way the parts are designed allows the whole unit to be built either with the lances lowered at the moment of the charge, or with the shafts upright on the march. On top of that, a number of spare arms with a lance and with a sheathed saber are left over, which come in useful on figures from other cavalry sets as well.
An uhlan is a lancer of light cavalry whose equipment comes out of the Polish tradition, and you will recognize him by the square flat-topped cap. The Russian army markedly expanded this arm during the campaigns of 1812 to 1814, because a lance gave a rider a not inconsiderable reach against an infantryman and against an opponent armed with a saber alike. Uhlans accompanied forward detachments, covered lines of retreat and, in open country, pursued broken units to the point of exhaustion.
Fit the lances as the very last part, or you will certainly catch them during further handling. The pennants under the head come out well when you twist them slightly as you glue them, as though they were being lifted by the horse's stride. Choose the color of the cap and the shoulder straps according to the particular regiment, as it is exactly these details that tell the units apart.
The set is intended to be glued and painted; the material needed is not enclosed in it.
