1:35 PaK40 - Standard Road Wheels (Continental)

What the set replaces

On a gun the wheels are the first thing the viewer sees, because they stand low, at eye level, and are visible from all sides. The replacement set offers standard road wheels with a tire carrying the pattern of the maker Continental. It is an accessory that replaces the parts from the box, not a kit.

The real subject

The PaK 40 was a German anti-tank gun of 7.5 centimeter caliber, in service from the middle of the Second World War. It was towed along the road by a vehicle precisely on wheels with tires, and that is why their appearance is so easy to check on a model: the tread, the rim and the shape of the disc are clearly visible in photographs. The set is cut for 1:35 scale.

Working and painting

• Choose the glue according to the material of the parts, which the manufacturer gives in the instructions.
• Cut any excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder off carefully.
• Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold.
• Offer the wheels up dry before gluing and compare them with the axle and with the parts from the box.
• Set the tire apart in shade from the rim, pick the tread out with a dry brush and add dust and mud toward the ground.

Who the set is for

For modelers building artillery in 1:35 scale who want the wheels finished better than they come out of the box. The work is undemanding, because it concerns only the wheels, but the result is visible from every angle. It also suits cases where the original parts carry traces of manufacture that are hard to sand back into a true circle.

The package holds only the replacement wheels. The model, paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
