The set covers Soviet heavy vehicles of the Second World War and the postwar years: the JS-2 and JS-3 tanks and the JSU-122 and JSU-152 assault guns. In English these machines are more often written IS-2, IS-3, ISU-122 and ISU-152; the kit name uses the JS and JSU transliteration. They share a common running gear and therefore the same tracks, so one set will serve several different kits. On a heavy vehicle the track is among the first things a viewer notices, and accuracy of shape shows on it immediately.
The links join one by one and the joint between them stays functional, so the finished track can be bent and wrapped around the wheels as on the real vehicle. That is particularly useful on these machines, because they have no return rollers and the upper run of the track rests directly on the road wheels; a sag like that is hard to reproduce faithfully with a one-piece track.
Clean the links first, cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder smooth. Assemble them in longer runs and meter the glue so that none gets into the joints, or the track will stiffen. An assembled track is more convenient to paint before it goes onto the model; it beds onto the wheels better once the paint has dried. Choose the type of glue according to the material of the parts; the method is given in the manufacturer instructions.
