A small water and dirt trap that is fitted between the compressor and the airbrush. Compressed air warms up in the compressor and condenses as it expands, so water arises in the hose which would otherwise travel right up to the nozzle and spit into fresh paint. The result is usually craters, blotches and a run coat, one of the most common frustrations of beginners asking why their airbrush spits. This part catches the water as well as fine dirt and oil before they reach the paint.

Use

• It fits compactly straight onto the airbrush by the handle, so it is always right at the nozzle, where it catches even the water that arises in the hose.
• It fits the standard airbrush connection (a 1/8 inch thread, the so-called S type).
• You drain the accumulated water as needed, the filter element holds the dirt, and the package usually holds a spare filter as well.
• It pays off especially in damp conditions and during longer continuous work, when condensation increases.
