A darker copper shade from the shadow level of the True Metallic Metal range. It is laid into grooves, joints and folds, where a model's surface is meant to act deeper and older.

Ancient Copper in the shadow version has a single task: to deepen the places light would not reach on a real object. It goes into engraved joints, under the rims of plates, into folds and into the space around protruding details. Unlike a black glaze, which tends to be matte and puts metal out for a while, this shade keeps a spark of its own, so a hollow is darkened but not deadened.
In the result the surface acts as if it had a depth of its own: the grooves are darkly copper, the small face next to them stays lighter and the transition between them is apparent only when the model is tilted. It is exactly in this that the range differs from simply painting over with one metallic tone, where the relief merges. If you spread the shade outside the hollows as well, the result ages overall and takes on the impression of long-used copper, which suits boilers, piping, iron-bound handles or old roof sheeting.
The application has to be thin and targeted. A heavy coat in a hollow will flow over onto the surrounding area once dry and the boundary of the shadow will then act as a stain, not as a transition. It pays to work in small amounts and to thicken the shadow step by step. This bottle carries a single shade in a single role, so for adding the lights you have to reach for the other members of the same color family. On its own it gives a model depth, but not a full play from the darkest place to a sheen. It is also useful to try the strength of the shadow out first on a less conspicuous part of the model, on the underside of the chassis or on the back of a shield say, where a slip will trouble nobody.
