Self-adhesive tufts of low growth two millimeters high, 35 pieces on a backing film.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two millimeters look like nothing, and yet it is exactly this kind of growth that tells a finished scene from a merely painted board. Moss and low grass spring up where neither people nor machines reach: between paving slabs, into the gaps of masonry, at the foot of a post, on the north side of a stone. A few of them in the right place are enough for the viewer to believe that the scene existed before the model drove into it.
A height of two millimeters corresponds in 1:35 scale to low moss or freshly cut grass, in 1:72 scale it already reads as a full grass surface, and on even smaller models it can stand in for low shrubby growth. That is exactly why the smallest size is among the most usable — it finds a place on an airfield, on city paving and on a figure base.
The tuft is carefully lifted off the film with pointed tweezers and pressed onto the surface; the underside already carries the adhesive. On a rough or dusty surface it holds less well, and there a drop of thin PVA glue helps.
Once dry, the fibers take dry pigment as well as a light pass from a greater distance, which brings the color of the growth into line with the rest of the terrain. Without that step the growth stays noticeably more saturated than its surroundings and gives away that it was added afterwards. It also pays to mix two sizes side by side, because nature does not grow to a single height. A base, terrain and glue are not in the package.
