A damped military yellow shade. An Xpress Color acrylic paint for desert equipment, tarpaulins and markings.
Responsibility details are not available.
A yellow damped into a sandy position, that is the kind of shade that appeared on equipment in dry regions and on gear meant to blend into its surroundings. It finds a use on desert camouflage, on canvas, on wooden ammunition crates and on the large markings and numbers that are meant to be legible but not garish. The line is built for a single application, which fills the riveting, the panel lines and the folds by itself.
The paint can be sprayed, which pays off on larger areas. Thinned, however, it goes on in an extremely thin coat, so the resulting film is even more fragile than after a brush and even catching it on the edge of a box will damage it. Spray it therefore onto a well-primed surface, in several light passes, and let the area flash off between them.
To the touch the surface is dry within a few minutes, but that is deceptive: the binder is not yet cross-linked at that point and a fingerprint will press into it. The coat gains its full strength gradually over twenty-four hours, and that is exactly how long a part should wait before you start sanding, masking, gluing it into an assembly or packing it for a show.
Yellow camouflage was never worn clean in practice. Dusting with a lighter pigment around the running gear and a darker trace of exhaust gases will give the area scale and show that the machine went somewhere, which is the most important thing on large flat parts.
Rinse the nozzle out straight after spraying, while the paint is wet.
