Jakab Publishing works a field that foreign publishers mostly skirt: Czechoslovak aviation and military history, written in Czech and based on domestic archives. The output arrives in numbered editions - an aviation line covering types, regiments and overseas missions, and a ground line dealing with military vehicles, artillery, tank production and the armament industry. Volumes are often split into parts by period, so one type or one unit may continue across several books. Below we set out what to expect from them.

On Czechoslovak types and units, foreign literature tends to be brief and second-hand. A monograph written from local archives brings traced serial numbers, strength returns and period photographs that are simply not available elsewhere. For a builder the consequence is direct: with that material you can model one specific machine of one specific unit instead of a generic box-art version.
It follows the service history of types in Czechoslovak and Czech air arms, individual regiments and foreign deployments, with foreign types covered too. Because many titles run to several parts, check the part number when you are filling gaps in a series.
The second group deals with military motor vehicles, artillery, tank manufacture and the armament industry, often with the interwar period and post-war service in focus. These are rewarding subjects precisely because they sit outside the usual mainstream.
Building a machine with a domestic history? Start here and only then add a foreign-language title for extra imagery. Building a foreign type? A monograph aimed directly at that type will serve you better.
