A set of thirty-eight unpainted figures of Zulu warriors in 28 millimeter size. The figures are in hard plastic and multi-part: bodies, heads, arms, shields and weapons are glued separately, so you put the poses together as you like. With a Zulu force that matters particularly, because each regiment was told apart precisely by the color and pattern of its shield, and here the shield can be fitted and painted separately.
The Zulu army was exceptionally well organized for Africa: it was divided into regiments by age and each had its own shield color. The main weapon was the short stabbing spear and a large ox-hide shield, and the tactic was to envelop the enemy in the form of the horns of the bull. At Isandlwana in 1879 it destroyed a British camp with this tactic, only to come up a day later at Rorke's Drift against a handful of defenders who held out.
Separate the parts from the sprue with nippers at a distance and trim the rest with a knife. They are glued with ordinary modeling cement for polystyrene. Paint the shields separately and glue them on at the end; they have their own pattern and would be difficult to paint on the figure. Vary the skin tones slightly between the figures.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
