A cast resin diorama base in 1:35 scale from the Czech maker Black Dog, with a post-apocalyptic subject. It belongs to a separate range of bases that the manufacturer offers alongside military dioramas and that follows on from its figures from a post-apocalyptic setting. The base has its texture finished; a figure and equipment are not included in the package.
Post-apocalyptic scenes live on the detail that reveals that the world no longer works: cracked concrete, broken pipes, weeds taking hold and abandoned equipment. A finished base gives that atmosphere with a single figure and saves building a backdrop. The scene also offers great freedom in painting, because it is tied to no period scheme and no prescribed markings, and rust and moss can be used here without limit.
First rinse the resin base in lukewarm soapy water and let it dry, or the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. Level any casting flash with a file. Apply thin coats of primer; a heavy coat would fill in the engraved detail. The surfaces come out well after a dark wash and a light pass with a dry brush.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
