A decal sheet for Mosquito models in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand DK Decals. This is not a kit but a set of decals for a model you already have. The sheet carries eight marking options and concentrates on machines derived from the Mk.II fighter and the Mk.VI fighter-bomber which served for reconnaissance, above all in the overseas theaters.
The Mosquito was an all-wooden twin-engine aircraft in which speed stood in for defensive armament. While the specialized PR versions came from bomber Mosquitoes, in India, Burma, the Mediterranean and Africa machines built as the Mk.II fighter and the FB Mk.VI fighter-bomber were used for reconnaissance as well, with cameras added inside them. The sheet therefore mixes British and African units: on it you will find No. 1 Photographic Reconnaissance Unit of the RAF, No. 681 and No. 47 Squadrons of the RAF, several machines of No. 60 Squadron of the South African Air Force and an Australian-built aircraft of a Royal Australian Air Force reconnaissance unit.
A gloss surface belongs under the decals, otherwise the edges will show up as a matte patch. Cut them out tight to the artwork, use a decal setting solution and give the whole a coat of varnish once it is dry. On the overseas machines count on faded shades: the decals come out better when the camouflage has been lightened beforehand and given a patina.
This is a separate decal sheet. The kit, paints and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
