Fifty individual grass tufts from the German maker HEKI, ten millimeters tall, in a fresh green spring shade. A ten-millimeter tuft is twice as tall as the usual five-millimeter variant, so on an H0 layout it matches genuinely tall grass of the kind that grows on unmown grassy strips between fields and in ditches. It is exactly this difference between a tended and an untended area that can bring a scene to life more than adding another tree.

How to work with the tufts

The tufts are not self-adhesive; they are fixed with modeling glue, ideally a flock adhesive or PVA glue. Apply a drop of glue to the base and seat the tuft in it with tweezers, as fingers will not reach into narrow places. Do not spread tall tufts over the whole area, but precisely where grass would really grow long, that is, by obstacles and along edges. Around a tall tuft it helps to add low grass so the transition into the base is not abrupt.
