A set of masks for painting the road wheels of the Israeli Merkava Mk 3D tank in 1:35 scale. The set is cut for kits from MENG. Modern tanks have a lot of road wheels and their rubber tire bands are clearly visible where the track is exposed, so a clean transition between the tire band and the disc is worth the effort.
The Merkava is an Israeli main battle tank built around a single priority, crew survival. That is where its unusual layout comes from, with the engine at the front forming another layer of protection, and a rear door that allows wounded men or infantry to be loaded. The Mk 3 version brought a more powerful gun, a new powerpack and modular armor that can be replaced in the field.
The wheel is placed in the cutout in the flexible mask, which covers the rubber tire band and exposes the disc. Paint the tire band first, then fit the mask and spray over the disc. Do not stretch the mask, press it down with a pointed wooden stick once it is seated and spray perpendicular to the surface in thin coats. According to the manufacturer the masks can be used again after cleaning.
