A 3D-printed resin set of German Notek blackout headlights and convoy lights in 1:35 scale from GINGER CAT. The manufacturer gives eight pieces in the package, so it goes far enough for several vehicles. The parts are attached to the fender, to the front of the body and to the rear of a finished model.
The Notek blackout headlight was mandatory equipment on German military vehicles. It let only a narrow horizontal slit of light out to the front, so that the vehicle could not be seen from above in the dark, and at the rear it was paired with a convoy light with three vertical slits: from how many of them the driver behind could see, he could tell whether he was keeping the right distance. It is a small part, but a conspicuous one on a model, because it usually sits on the fender in the most exposed place.
3D-printed parts are small and brittle: separate them with a fine-tooth saw or with nippers and level the remains of the print supports with a fine file. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); solvent cement for plastic does not hold. Before painting, spray a thin coat of primer, as a heavy coat would drown the detail.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
