About product

Clear Prop Models 1:48 Bf 109E tropical filter (resin)

This is NOT an airplane model but a resin detail part in 1:48 scale from Clear Prop Models. It adds to a Messerschmitt Bf 109E model the tropical (dust) filter of the air intake with which the machines deployed in North Africa and the Mediterranean were fitted.

The real subject

Tropicalized Bf 109E Trop machines received a large dust filter on the air intake, which protected the supercharger of the engine from sand in desert conditions. This characteristic feature sets a North African machine apart from a standard Emil at once.

How to use the part

  • Wash the part free of remnants of the mold release agent and let it dry.
  • Cut the casting block off and clean the surfaces up (with respiratory protection).
  • Glue with cyanoacrylate.
  • Apply a primer coat and paint it together with the surrounding fuselage.

Who the part is for

  • Modelers building the desert (tropicalized) version of the Bf 109E in 1:48.
  • Builders used to working with resin.

The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The basic kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
