This is an extensive additional photo-etched set, not a model in its own right. The package holds a set of photo-etched parts meant to refine the model of the American Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser USS Monterey (CG-61) in 1:700 scale. The set covers the ship from bow to stern and replaces or completes a range of plastic features.
USS Monterey (CG-61) is a Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser fitted with the Aegis combat system and vertical launching cells for guided missiles. These cruisers form the backbone of the air defense of American task groups and fill the role of multirole escort vessels.
The photo-etched parts typically take in fine lattice masts, radar features, railings, platforms, ladders and small deck equipment. The parts are separated with a scalpel, bent with a photo-etch bending tool and glued with cyanoacrylate glue. Given the size and the number of features, it is worth planning the work section by section and painting only once assembled.
