The Audi R8 is a low two-seat coupe with a mid-mounted engine, a shape that lends itself to racing conversion by itself. The competition version adds wide fenders, a flat floor, a large rear wing and a lightened interior with a roll cage. Cars of this type made their mark mainly in endurance racing, where reliability and easy servicing in the pits count for more than peak performance over a single lap. The livery the set captures belongs to a car entered for the race at the Daytona circuit in 2015.

The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted, the parts are made of several different materials, and a decal sheet of its own for that livery belongs to the set. The exact make-up of the contents, the number of parts and the sequence of assembly are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Start by dry fitting the parts and only then reach for the glue. Cut the excess material and the traces of manufacture away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest down until it disappears. Before painting, wash the body in lukewarm water with detergent, degrease it and apply a base coat, because without it the paint will not hold on a smooth surface. Polish the colored base to a gloss before the decals, otherwise a white halo will remain around them. Clear coat the finished decals and let everything cure thoroughly before you start fitting the glazing and the accessories.
For the more experienced builder of car models who can handle parts made of various materials and who wants one particular racing machine, not a generic version of the car.
